| The time has come. I'm moving out of Xanga. (Though after quite a bit of srufing, I have to say this is still one of the best.) But I've been wanting this for a while, and now I can finally say:
This blog has moved. Please go to http://sound.blogdrive.com
Di and Da, I can finally link your blogs to mine properly.

| I got a new dryer today. The previous one had gone old and cranky, literally. It worked only when it felt like it, made the loudest noise doing so, and stopped - or didn't stop - whenever it pleased.
The landlord came with her dad and three and a half year old Daniel. They were nice. He did all the work, she passed him tools, Daniel ate potato chips and played with his toys. For the first half hour.
Kids have the most amazing toys nowadays. I wanted to play with them. Daniel was really cute. Once you got him talking, he didn't stop. By the end of an hour (it took really long because they had to remove the old rack and install a new one), he had taken to calling me "Goomi". He meant "excuse me". When his grandpa drilled holes in the (brick) wall, he stayed outside the apartment on the stairs and shut his ears. He doesn't like loud noises.
They were so nice I didn't even mind them not taking off their shoes and walking all over the place. But I am going to have to clean house soon.
And by the way, the exchange rate is down to 2.77.
It's raining, it's pouring, it hasn't stopped all morning...

| You know your next-door neighbour is an aspiring musician when...
1. He plays the same generously-amplified bass riff (with a backing track) over and over and over and over and...
2. You see him sitting in his balcony with an acoustic guitar and some paper, strumming and singing.
3. He has this incomprehensible urge to practise a song at 8am in the morning, generously-amplified no less. This time it was an electric guitar.
It sounded quite good, even in my half-asleep, distinctly-displeased state.

| This is definitely worth a look-see. Especially if you're missing those cartoons...

| Some guy made history yesterday when he surfed a wave 21 metres high. 21 metres! I can't even visualise how high that is. I think it's the biggest wave anyone has surfed, or one of the biggest anyway.
I know, you're thinking I should do my research before I write about news. Well, I tried. And there was absolutely nothing on The Age and Nine Network websites. Why am I not surprised? After all, Nightline (Channel Nine 11.30pm news) only gave it 7 seconds, and near the end at that. You would think such an amazing feat would garner slightly more attention.
Is it just me, or does Australia pay way too much attention to footy fouls? Haven't they realised by now that guys are never going to play nice when it comes to sports? And why do we have to see them walking into the AFL tribunal with coats and ties practically every single day? It's common knowledge by now: punch someone during a game, and you have to put on coat and tie to talk to this bunch of people. The (shocking) fact that I even know it's called an "AFL tribunal" in the first place shows just how many times I've seen it. And they still call it "Top News".
Anyway, back to the wave and all things beautiful. Am I the only one who dreams of going whale-watching in the open sea? I've heard of one other girl who does, but other than that, zilch. I wonder what's my obsession with that. But don't you think it would be so amazing to see a whale in the wild, watch it dive, and see its tail (that's probably bigger than the boat itself) up in the air? I think it would scare me, thrill me, and fill me with awe and wonder all at the same time. I'd want to see a killer whale too, but I've heard they attack boats if you catch them on a bad day. So I'm sticking to big, nice, plankton-eating ones. Is it still only me?
